I Just Could Not Resist!

I thought long and hard about joining Temecula Quilt Company's ABC quilt along.
You see I have three daughters, so I needed to make three.quilts.  But how could anyone resist that darling quilt.

So, I called my friend Elaine and she loved it too!
We met and got busy.

I have been waiting for a project where I could use my solids and, baby, this was it!!  I thought I could use about 13 fabrics for a repeat of two. I am using Kona white for the background.

The quilt along is up to letter G, so we spent our time cutting.

First the solids.  Thank goodness for Elaine, she is a math wiz and let me know just how much to cut for each piece.
Here are A thou G, cut and ready.

We also cut the background strips and labeled them for the future blocks.

Today I made A.

I have been singing this song all the time I was sewing.

Here are my A's

Embroidery Patterns

I am not sure, it could just be me, but I found some darling embroidery patterns by
Kim Ouimet.
Do you know her?
She blogs HERE

I purchased three of her sets.
Two Christmas and one 4th of July!

Time to take out the red, white and blue hexies.  I am going to do the same thing as the 50 states and embroidery a little design in the middle of the hexie flower.

Check out Kim's super cute patterns!!

I am Almost caught Up!

How many of you are participating in the 50 States Stitching Club?
(information on my side-bar)
I started a little later but I am just about caught up!
I believe I am two behind.
I, of course, went very Patriotic.
Wow, are these fun to make!
Paper piecing, embroidery and raw edge applique.
This is what I have accomplished so far.
There are still the markings from the water soluble pen.  I do not want to wash them until I have the whole top put together.

What is Keeping Me Busy

This is what I am working with this week.  Trying to finish the quilt for our new grandbaby.  Using these fabrics.....

My sweet friend Elaine appliqued the whales for me, what a sweetie.
I am embellishing the whales with some touches of embroidery.

This is all the peek I can give you for now.

What are you working on?

I Rarely Do This, Really!

UFO's!  I just usually do not finish them!  This weekend I was getting out the Halloween Decorations when I came across some orphan Halloween Blocks.

Hmm...

I could do something with these, or I could put them back.

Nope, use them Jane!

So I put them together added a border, binding and I was done!

Here it is...
Do you like my makeshift clothesline?
An orange extensions cord attached to two trees!

I found these too!

And this I received from a friend!

Some UFO's just might now be moved to the finished pile!

I hope you had a nice weekend.

Starter Kit for Farmer's Wife Quilt

Karen from Laugh Yourself into Stitches, you know, the wonderful lady who is doing the Farmer's Wife Revival Classes I am participating in, asked if I would like to make up a Farmer's Wife Flower Sugar Fabric starter kit for quilters.

Many beautiful Farmer's Wife Quilts are made with period fabrics.
I however march to my own drum.
I decided to use Flower Sugar from Lecien.

If you like the look of this fabric combination I have a start up kit listed in both of my shops.

30 fat eigths of Flower sugar for 49.99  Free USA shipping

or if you would like more

Karen is starting a new facebook group
Farmer's Wife Quilt Revival Challenge 2014

How Do You Find Out About.....

Quilt Alongs?  How do you find them?  I blog hop.  I even try google.  But has anyone even found a blog or flickr page that hosts up-coming quilt along? There are swaps pages, bee pages, fabric in search of pages, blog hop pages, but I have yet to find quilt along pages.
I know we cannot be all over the web and I love quilt alongs.
I really do not want to miss the chance to play.
I bet there will be quilt a few starting in 2015.
Where do you look?
