What I have been up to.....

Wow, I really did not want to take a break from blogging, but my computer had other thoughts! She is in the shop trying to get better as I try to blog from our family computer. Really, it is not too easy, I go to click and the item I want to click is not there!! So, I have made new folders and added new favorites so maybe I can maneuver!
BUT…
This is what I have been doing!
My Row House Wall-Hanging is complete! Sorry to go on about this, but I love this and quite pleased I was able to accomplish this project. Much gratitude goes to my friend for cutting the pieces and attaching the binding.

I also worked on my strawberry basket stitchery. I am not sure how to quilt her? Maybe diagonal lines? But do I stitch through the embroidery? I would be grateful for any ideas. Thank you!

Happy Sewing!

  1. Love the row houses!! Would look great on my wall. As for stitching your embroidery - don't know the size, cross-hatch your border blocks - echo line out the corners - I don't stitch thru embroidery, just echo stitch around main design - you could add some 'ties' or even little green beads in center of leaf clusters to help tack.

  8. I agree with Vrooman's Quilts...quilt around the embroidery, but don't quilt the embroidery. Accent little area's. I saw a quilted embroidery quilt on a blog just recently and I really liked how it was done...but do you think I can remember where it was? Nooooo...
If I think of it, I will send you the link!

  9. Jane I've done both - stitched through the embroidery and avoided stitching through the embroidery. If you don't stitch through it then the embroidered part will sort of pop out...even puff up a little. Sometimes I like that look and sometimes not. I almost think that because the basket is large compared to the background you're going to need to do some quilting in the embroidery in addition to the background. Maybe just the basket part? blessings, marlene

  10. I love your houses! The strawberry basket looks like a wall hanging - if that's the case I would stitch around it and then do your cross hatch or whatever you want outside the stitchery area. If it was going to get heavy use then quilting in the embroidery would help it stay together. I think that quilting would detract from the look of your sweet stitching to some degree though.

  11. Cross hatching is definitely the way to go, but not through the embroidered stitches. This is always a dilemma for me - which is also why my embroidered quilts are not quilted, so I can't really advise. Lol I will be interested in your comments. The row house quilt is so daring. Judy C

  14. It's great to see the row house quilt finished - just wonderful. Great border for the strawberry quilt. I don't have much experience with quilting stitched blocks. My personal preference would be to not quilt through the stitching as it would detract from the stitching. Maybe a little outline quilting with cross-hatching in the background?
