You just won a contest…

Well, let’s pretend. Pretend you won a 3 minute “grab all you can and put in a shopping cart” spree at your local quilt shop!!
What would you grab?
I think I would grab fat quarters. That way I would have a little of everything! If I still had some time left, thread? Books? Not really sure….

But such fun to think about!

And yes,
I am still working on my nine patch!

Have a SAFE weekend!

Blocks and Dots…

I finished my next set of bee blocks. These are for the Bee there or Bee square Bee. The fabrics we were sent were amazing. I love them so much and she mixed them with different color Kona cottons. These are what I made for her.

Have a happy day!

Spring???

Where in the world is spring? It sure is not here in the Chicagoland area! We had light snow over the weekend and thunderstorms today.
BUT….
This Mom, put on multiple layers of clothes and brought blankets for the girls and went to watch my daughter play softball. Come on, softball in the 30’s!!! Oh, what we do for the ones we love!!

Not too much sewing goes on during softball season but I do have a few books I would love to share with you.

A few weeks ago I asked for help on deciding what to quilt in the sashing of my 9 patch quilt. I received many wonderful ideas. Then to make my decision even harder, I found this book;

501 Quilting Motifs Now what am I going to do?!!!!

Let’s take a peek inside:

Look at this heart border…..

This to fill in a large square…

Look at the options!

And the Christmas Lights, what a border that would make!!

You can find it here along with many other great books.

Another book I love is Doodle Stitching by Aimee Ray.

I also enjoy embroidery. This has so many wonderful designs and even comes with a CD!!
Take a peek in this book:

A beautiful Alphabet

Here is Aimee's blog, enjoy!!

One more book to share with you today. This one will take longer to read…
Oh so many years ago Jean Auel started the Earth Children’s Series, her first book Clan of the Cave Bear (1980) grabbed me at the first page! Now she has (after 9 years) released the last in the series!! The Land of Painted Caves, I am thrilled, all her books are 700-900 pages long. I love long books! However thank Heavens for my kindle for 700+ pages makes for a heavy book!

Do something calming today!

Sitting with an old friend.....

I am not sure how all quilters work but I always have projects in different stages around my sewing room.
One that is in the process of picking fabrics.
One that is waiting to be cut.
One ready to be pieced.
One ready to baste.
One as a take along project.
One to quilt.
And one to bind. (that pile tends to build up)!

Today it is dreary outside so I thought I would sit and hand quilt for awhile. I have shown this nine patch before but I have decided what I want to do with the sashing.

Now that I have been introduced to Presencia Threads (shameless plug) I decided a beautiful shade of pink would make a pretty design. I now have to decide what I want to quilt, lines, no, circles, no, maybe a vine with some leaves here and there.

Any ideas you could share?

I would love to hear them!

Happy sewing!

How everything went wrong!!

This is a post about how everything went wrong!! As I posted before, I started my I Spy quilt by cutting 5 inch squares of novelties. Many of which were kindly sent to me. thank you! I then cut the sashing on my AccuCut studio. Now I start to see them together. I was using them as leaders and enders. Probably did not take the correct time to make the precise ¼ inch seam!

Next sew them in to rows. So far, so good! Ten rows with 12 squares each.

Time to make the top. Again using my studio cut strips. Sew a strip to the top of a row. Add the next row, Hmm larger!

Add the next row, larger,
Add the next row, larger,
larger and larger!
It looks like stairs!!
By the time I get done I will have totally eliminated one whole 5 inch square!

Now, there is no way I am going to redo this whole top,
so I will trim it up and the grandbabies will love it.

Wow!!
I guess that ¼ of an inch seam is important!!!
I have to laugh!!
What a goof I am!!!
